SOME PAINTINGS BY VASILY KANDISNKY
Inspired by Steiner's ideas Vasily Kandinsky gradually abandoned recognizable forms, replacing them with obscured motifs dictated by what he called 'inner aspiration'. This aspiration sought to express a deeper understanding of the relationship between nature and the spirit. Kandinsky even wrote a treatise entitled 'On the Spiritual Art'.

  Vasily Kandinsky, born Dec. 4, 1866, Moscow, Russia. died Dec. 13, 1944, Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. One of the first painters of pure abstraction in modern painting. After successful avant-garde exhibitions, he founded the influential Munich group Der Blaue Reiter 1911-14).
