People Garden layout finished. George will start on the shelter building
next week. The first lot of plants are in: palms, heliconias and various
gingers. One excellent established cycad in prime position.
The new water tank is in place and connected. Takes about 45 minutes to
fill from the top tank. Water pressure ok in People Garden.
New decorative fence has been ordered.
Yankee Creek Pecans and Mungo orchards have been brush cut and cleaned
up. Mulching still to come. All look vigorous and healthy. Fig tree area
cleaned up.
Orchard Hill Pecans and Myrtles have been cleaned up and individually
brush cut. Big job. They are now being mulched and next time this should
all be much easer. The pecans look good and healthy and many are
fruiting.
The Upper Plantation has been brush cut. Mangoes have been damaged by
cattle but are sprouting back.

Camphor control: we have cut 5 Camphor in the Lower Gully, drilled holes
into the trunks and filled them with salt. We then have covered the
trunks with shrink film. I am not very hopeful but lets see what
happens.
Tree planting: Linda and I have planted about 2 feature trees in strategic
positions. Many Mexican Tree Ferns, a Heart Tree, Cedars, a Jacaranda
and others.
The three Bunya Pines that we planted last month in the Tranquillity
Reserve are doing well.
Demeter certification: Hubert has introduced this idea to the local BD
group with mixed response.
Preps: Linda and I distributed prep 505 (oak bark) around the house area
and across the Upper Plantation.

New tractor arrived, very good. Garden layout almost finished.
Shade-house location settled. Still raining off an on. A number of large
waterfalls can be seen coming down the escarpment. The largest has a 60
meter drop. I can't hear it but I can clearly see the water gushing.
Extraordinary sight, especially in the rain.

36 hours of continuous rain. Linda and I went for an inspection tour.
Parts of the prep-garden had washed away, the hoop-pine-reserve has
turned into a fast flowing creek, the lotus dam is overflowing and the
Yankee Creek Road is flooded.
21/2/03 - Heavy rain al day
& night. Rest day.
20/2/03 - 8 hours of slashing. Platform for large water tank excavated,
shelter builder and fence builder organised. Layout of garden finished.
All timber borders connected, central circle 3/4 filled with granite
screenings. It's going to be a big mandala shape.
