PREPARATION
501 - HORN SILICA From 'Agriculture': 'Everything active in silica-like substances contains forces that do not originate with the Earth, but rather with the so-called distant planets - Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. These planets are working in the siliceous substances.' |

STEINER'S
PROPOSITION: The distant planets - Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are involved in forming the nourishing substances in plants via silica. Silica makes the plant receptive to the expanses of the Universe. Whereas the forces of Moon, Venus and Mercury make the plants capable of reproduction. Silica has a string relationship to warmth and warmth heightens the effectiveness of the forces that work through the siliceous substances. HOW TO MAKE 501 ACCORDING TO STEINER: Grind quartz to a very fine powder and mix it with water to a consistency of dough. You can also use orthoclase, feldspar. Stuff this mixture into cow horns and let it stay underground all summer. Take it out in late autumn. Store until next spring and then treat it very similar to the horn manure. You need very little: A portion the size of a pea, or a pinhead into a bucket of water. Stirring needs to be a full hour. ESOTERIC COMMENT: Silica is connected with the distant planets and with summer-light and warmth. The 501 preparation gives the plant a sensitivity for these day & summer forces and makes it receptive to the the totality of the outer planet forces by engendering nutritional potential into substance. As all fruits are ripened through the power of the Sun, 501 helps the plant to manifest this Sun force into healthy structure that leads to better keeping quality. PRACTICAL FARMING CONSIDERATIONS: Prep 501 benefits the leaf activity of a plant whereas 500 prepares the soil structure for root development. As 501 encourages the light (summer) process it aids photosynthesis and so strengthens development. Method: It is important that the clear quartz crystal (silicon dioxide) is crushed into a very fine powder. A steel mortar and pestle can be used. The powder can be further ground between two sheets of thick glass until it becomes like talcum powder. Blend this powder with some water until it is dough-like. Fill it into a cow horn. Leave the cow horn standing upright overnight and pour off the excess water. Bury the horn (s) in the same way as prep 500. Timing: Best time to bury in Australia is September / October. Best time to dig up is April / May. Moon phase: ascending and not a day of moon node. (Spring to autumn equinox) Lifting: The 501 will easily knock out of the horn. Dry it in sunlight. Store it in a clean glass jar. Keep it in a light, sunny position. Never store 501 in the dark. HOW TO APPLY 501: Use the same method as with 500. The water should be quite warm. Use a brush or hand sprayer. 1g of 501 mixes with 13 litres of warm rainwater per acre. When and how often: Spray at seedling stage and again before harvest. Best time is just before sunrise. Avoid spraying in strong wind. Additional reading: (open in separate window) |
