STEINER'S
PROPOSITION:
'...The plant that contains plenty of calcium is the oak. Seventy-seven percent
of its substance consists of finely distributed calcium. Oak bark, in particular,
represents a kind of intermediate product between the plant and the living earth
element. Of the many form in which calcium can appear, the calcium structure
of oak bark is the most ideal. Calcium creates order when the etheric body is
working too strongly, so that the astrality cannot influence whatever organic
entity is involved. Calcium in any form will kill off or dampen the etheric body
and thereby free up the influences of the astral body, but when we want a rampant
etheric development to contract in a beautiful and regular manner, without any
shocks, then we need to use calcium in the particular form in which it is found
in oak bark...'
HOW TO MAKE 500 ACCORDING TO STEINER:
Collect the oak bark. You do not need a great deal. Chop it until it is of crumb-like
consistency, put it into the skull from any one of our domestic animals - it
hardly matters which one - close up the skull, preferably with a piece of bone.
Place the skull in a relatively shallow hole in the ground, cover it with loose
peat, and set up some pipe or gutter so that as much rainwater as possible flows
through the hole. You might even put the skull into a rain-barrel where water
can constantly flow in and out. Then add some kind of plant matter that will
decay, so that the oak bark in its bony container lies in this organic muck for
the whole of the winter.... When this material is added to your manure pile,
it will truly provide the forces to prevent or arrest harmful plant diseases...'
ESOTERIC COMMENT:
A healthy plant that can hold together its ethereal and astral
bodies gives little opportunity for bacteria and fungi to live on. 505
is connected with the Moon forces. Placing the preparation in a watery
element connects to the forces of the outer planets: Mars, Jupiter and
Saturn. 505 will lift the pH of the soil without adding lime.
ABOUT THE PLANT:
The most important healing component in the bark of the oak tree is its tannin,
which has astringent and mildly antiseptic qualities that help with inflammatory
skin conditions, irritating and itchy patches of eczema, bleeding or infected
skin sores, inflamed haemorrhoids, and even shingles lesions. Oak bark's powerful
anti-inflammatory qualities make it very useful (in strong tea form) for sore
throat and inflamed gums. Interestingly, a commercial oak bark preparation (Litiax),
which is only available in Europe, is used for kidney stones. The product acts
as a diuretic (water pill), it reduces pain and inflammation, and is believed
to prevent the formation of new stones.
PRACTICAL FARMING CONSIDERATIONS:
Skull can be from a sheep, cow or goat. Bury in watery environment such as swap,
a wet spot below a damn or use a water barrel into which rotten vegetable material
was been added. Bury in autumn and lift in spring. Dry in glass jar until smell
has gone.
HOW TO ADD TO COMPOST:
Bind the flowers in compost or dry grass and drill deep holes into the compost
heap. Insert the preparations into these holes and backfill.
Liquid manure:
Wrap the flowers in cheesecloth or dried grass and tie them in such a way that
they float on top of the liquid manure. |
